Ocala Tree Risk Assessments

Don't wait for a limb or tree to fall to find out something's wrong with your tree. Cracks in the trunk, large falling branches, hard leans, cracks in the soil around the tree could all be warning signs of a serious risk. A failing tree can cause devastating damage to homes, businesses, vehicles, and most importantly, people.

At ArborManagers™, our tree risk assessments are performed with one goal in mind: Keeping people and property safe. Whether your a homeowner, business owner, or property manager, we help you understand the condition of your trees, and what needs to be done to reduce risk and liability and prevent catastrophic damage before it happens.

We use industry standard assessment methods to evaluate structure to identify defects, root zone to identify instability, canopy load to identify wind and weight distribution issues, and overall health to choose best management path forward.

More importantly, we explain what our findings mean in plain terms, so you can understand what your tree needs and you're not left guessing about your safety.

What is a tree risk assessment?

A formal Tree Risk Assessment is a professional evaluation of one or more trees and their surrounding environment, by a qualified Ocala Florida Certified Arborist, to determine the level of risk a tree poses to high value targets such as people or structures.

A Certified Arborist will inspect your trees in accordance with the International Society of Arboriculture's Best Management Practices and American National Standards Institute guidelines.

During an inspection consideration is given to things like structure, species, location, terrain, soil, surrounding trees and structures, age of the plant, signs of decay, pest infestation, and history.

The Certified Arborist will designate a risk rating for the tree based on the probability of failure, and the possible fallout to the surrounding environment, including people and structures.

The Tree Risk Assessment is formally documented using a form designated by the International Society of Arboriculture for the Tree Risk Assessment process, and a report is created based on the findings, and signed by the Certified Arborist.

There are three levels of risk assessment:

  • Level 1 Limited: This is a limited walk-by or drive-by visual assessment of a tree, or group of trees, which clearly have at least one or two of the factors used when determining tree risk as a constant. Likelihood of failure would be the focus of this assessment.
  • Level 2 Basic: This is a more detailed visual inspection of a tree from a distance and close up, and the surround environment or site. This assessment can include small tools such as a mallet, a probe, a small shovel, and binoculars, and a magnifying glass.
  • Level 3 Advanced: As the name implies, this is a more advanced level that dives deeper into a level 2 assessment by using more advanced diagnostics and providing more detailed information about a tree and tree parts, the extent of defects, and can involve more sophisticated equipment and include an aerial component.

The Value of Certified Tree Assessments

While Ocala Florida trees offer many wonderful benefits to our environment they also present risks, especially in an urban setting, where people, buildings, cars and hardscapes can become targets of falling trees and branches, or roots pushing up sidewalks creating tripping hazards.

Trees that are situated in these high value target areas should be assessed routinely, by a Certified Arborist, to check for any defects or other site conditions that elevate risk. If conditions exist that warrant action, a mitigation plan can be created to reduce the risk.

Some signs of problems found during a Tree Risk Assessment could be poorly structured codominant leaders, included bark, weak branch attachment, deadwood or decay in the tree or the roots of the tree.

Our Certified Arborists are trained to look for signs of structural defects, pest infestation and damage caused by other factors.
