Does Lake County require a permit to remove trees?
Yes, in many cases. Lake County enforces a tree protection ordinance that restricts removal of hardwoods exceeding 12 inches DBH without mitigation. Development projects on parcels over one acre require a development clearing permit. Individual cities within the county, including Clermont, Leesburg, and Mount Dora, may have additional requirements separate from the county ordinance.
What about trees on residential property?
